I've changed the BaseAI.cs of the latest SVN to make tamed creatures follow at speed with the player. 

Creatures will walk when the player is walking.
Creatures will run when the player is running, mounted and running while mounted.
All speeds match the player's, which means the creature will 'skip' every once in a while, depending on lag, etc.
